Summary
Penal Code section 30385 allows the Department to issue ammunition vendor licenses, which allows the licensee to sell ammunition in California, as well as prescribe the method and process of maintaining the license. This proposed regulation will enable California ammunition vendors to comply with statutorily mandated licensing requirements for the sale of ammunition by clarifying the timeframe to submit permit and license renewals to the Department.

Status of the Proposal
The rulemaking is complete. On June 22, 2020, the Office of Administrative Law approved the regulations and filed them with the Secretary of State. The regulations will become effective on October 1, 2020.
